Our newest release "The Wild One" is a classic medium bodied, Hunter Valley Shiraz Cabernet.
Picking a name in honour of our son was by far the easiest - it couldn't be anything but "The Wild One". Max only has two speeds; full-bore and asleep. This has resulted in multiple trips to the emergency ward with various injuries. It really came as no surprise to us (although still distressing!) when Maxy snapped his leg in half on a bike and knocked his (adult) teeth out at Little Athletics.
Despite his full-on attitude to life and an inability to sit still for long, you won't find a sweeter heart or nicer brother to his two little sisters. You also won't find a boy more excited to have a wine named after him!
ABOUT "THE WILD ONE"
"The Wild One" is medium bodied and well suited to BBQ meats, roast lamb and cheese plates.
It is bright red in colour with a mocha nose and hints of bay leaf. Look for plum, raspberry and subtle oak flavours with a long balanced finish and fine lingering tannins.
The fruit was hand picked from old Hunter Valley vineyards before fermentation occurred in small open fermenters. During fermentation a small amount of whole bunches were incorporated to add to the complexity of the final wine. "The Wild One" was then pressed off in a wooden basket press before being matured in French oak puncheons. It was then hand-blended to give a final mix of 70% Shiraz and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine can be enjoyed young or with correct storage will continue to develop complexity in the bottle for the next 10+ years.
