ABOUT DIRT CANDY
WELCOME TO DIRT CANDY WINE.
We are a husband and wife run, small-batch, artisan wine producer based in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia
Growing up in the Hunter, winemaker Daniel has long been passionate about both wine and food. After completing several vintages at local wineries whilst studying teaching, Daniel realised a career change could be in his future. The undeniable pull to the wine industry saw Daniel later undertake a winemaking degree at Charles Sturt University. During his studies he completed further vintages in the region whilst developing his own individual style of winemaking which he brings to the Dirt Candy brand.
Daniel's wife, Jenni, brings design and marketing expertise to Dirt Candy (as well as her unofficial role of keeping Daniel's ideas and plans in check!) Daniel and Jenni are joined by their three children, who provide constant inspiration for the Dirt Candy wine styles and endeavour to drink as much grape juice as possible during vintage.
Although based in the Hunter, we love expressing the individual characteristics of different locations. We source quality grapes from many stunning wine growing regions in Australia to create wines that reflect the vineyard from which they came. Each of our wines are handmade in small-batches, ensuring that we maintain a high level of control throughout the winemaking process.
In 2021, we have for the 3rd year in a row, been selected as a finalist in the Young Gun of Wine awards and after taking out the "Danger Zone" aware for creative winemaking in 2019 we are again hum, bled to recognised as a producer pushing the winemaking boundaries not in the Hunter Valley but also in Australian wine.
We have just opened up a Pop-up Cellar Door in Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley to showcase our wines to Hunter Valley visitors and tourists alike. There we are able to showcase our range of natural wines including Pet Nats in a child and pet friendly environment. If you would like to book a wine tasting with a difference in the Hunter Valley, click the link in the tab at the top of your page.
