"The Wet Weekend" 2020 Shiraz
LIGHT BODIED HUNTER VALLEY SHIRAZ
"The Wet Weekend" is a hand-picked, wild fermented Shiraz. Vegan friendly.
Bright crimson colour, a red currant and cranberry nose with cherry flavours, crisp acidity and fine tannins.
BBQ meats and charcuterie boards.
Shiraz grapes grown in Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley were hand picked and then foot crushed. The wine then underwent wild fermentation and was pressed off skins after three days before completing fermentation in a six year old French Oak puncheon barrel. The wine was then tucked away for six months before being bottled unfiltered and unfined. Hand corked and wax sealed. The resulting wine is a bit fruity, with some fine tannins and just a touch of funk. Able to be served at room temp to warm you up this winter or serve it chilled in the warmer months. Drink now or cellar for up to five years.
